Zen Style Beach Combing
   Observations & Correlation's

After many years and hundreds for hours of beach combing, I have developed a philosophy during my many hours walking the shoreline. Many of these thoughts may sound familiar, an certainly reflect life in general.

Reflections of the past, hopes for the future and thoughts of the present all enter your mind when walking the beach. All can be interrupted by that great sea glass find!

Please feel free to email me with your own observations!

Observations & Correlation's

    1. Each waves can bring in something different!
(On certain occasions you can stand right where the waves are breaking on the shore, many times I have just stood there in one area, having new a beautiful pieces wash upright before me.)
    Each moment brings something new!
    2. Sometimes the ordinary can be the spectacular!
(I have found several piece of red sea glass (VERY RARE) in my YEARS of looking, most of them looked brown, a VERY common color and only by picking up and observing the common did I discover it was a great find)
Don't overlook for the ordinary it could be extraordinary!
    3. Even though you've passed a spot you still might not have seen a great find!
(I usually try to cover a wide area on the beach, both the high tide line and the low tide line. Many times there is only one area to look and it amazes me how I can go up and down the same area several times and still find new pieces. I think this is because when you're looking for something so small among so much stuff, it's easy to overlook things even though you think you've covered the area. I try to change the angle at which I'm approaching the same area.
    Perspective changes everything!

Called many things, sea glass (seaglass), beach glass (beachglass), mermaids tears, ocean glass, trash glass, it is all beautiful and fun to collect.

Comments From You
This observation came from Marcie Walsh
I enjoyed reading your "beach glass philosophy" on your web site. I, too, am a collector and have the following observation:

Before I started collecting beach glass, I could walk up and down the beach for hours and never see it. Ever since I found my first piece, I am amazed at how frequently I can now find such a beautiful item that I had been walking past for years.
If we take the time to notice the beautiful things around us, we suddenly find that they we have been surrounded by them all along.

I have a pair of your earrings and receive complements on them each time I wear them.
    Keep up the good work!
